Employees as Ambassadors

This week’s growth hack can be put into practice immediately.

It all begins with finding the right people to hire. When hiring employees, make sure they are passionate about what you sell and capable of working hard. This authenticity is a huge advantage in customer-employee interactions.

Both new employees and current employees should feel ownership within your company. Some companies give employees ownership through stock options and related incentives. However, it is possible to create a sense that you own the company by making it clear that all your employees are part in the team. Everyone wants to be part in something exciting and new. You as a business owner need to ensure that your employees are involved in activities beyond fulfilling their job duties. Here are some examples of how to do this:

  • Ask employees for their input in all matters related to the performance of your company and make sure that everyone feels heard.
  • Give staffers a title, and if necessary, a nametag with their name, title, and possibly a statement about the employee’s job and its importance.
  • Regular employee recognition awards that are both fun and recognize achievements.
  • Make sure that your team understands your story, your values and what your business means for you and your family.
  • Prioritizing genuine concern for your employees’ well-being.

It is important to make sure that employees feel valued, included, and heard. Employees will feel proud of their business and have a sense of ownership.

Establish a culture of accountability within the company. Make it clear to your employees that every member of the team is a crucial link in the chain. This will ensure that everyone feels valued and important. Every employee must be held accountable for giving their best and executing at their highest level.

Work is a positive part of their lives. You spend a lot of your life working. Let employees know that you understand that and want them to have fun. Although we tend to view work as something negative, you can make it a positive. While work can be a serious business, there are many things you can feel proud of, particularly in moments when you achieve something. It can also be something that can be enjoyable. Your employees will be more likely to laugh and smile while working than complain and watch the clock. You can make the experience more enjoyable by inviting your employees to company outings, having light conversations beyond the job at hand, or even playing background music.

Finally, you can conduct role-playing training to show them how to represent your company in each of their roles and how it is possible to be true ambassadors for your company in all their interactions with customers.
